In September 1987, the National Art Education Association Board of Directors approved guidelines relative to NAEA Co-sponsored Academies and Institutes to identify and list conferences, workshops, courses, etc., as activities for professional development benefits to NAEA members.

Organizations holding NAEA institutional membership, excluding state art education associations are eligible to apply. The Program Director must be an NAEA member in good standing.

Proposed programs should adhere to the NAEA Goals for Quality Art Education (single copies can be obtained by sending a SASE to the address below). Proposals should include a description of the facilities, accommodations, dates and duration of the program, faculty resumes, credit and non-credit stipulations, estimated total cost to participants and NAEA member discounts, and funding source. Include an abstract justifying the graduate credit, if applicable, and a letter of endorsement from the appropriate institutional administration.

Within three months of the conclusion of the program, a formal report, including participant evaluations, should be submitted to the NAEA Board of Directors.

NAEA advertises Co-Sponsored Academies and Institutes in the NAEA News as a member benefit. NAEA does not make cash grants for co-sponsorship.

NAEA reserves first rights to publish and distribute proposed print and non-print materials resulting from the program.

Deadline is usually January of each year.
