The NAEA has an extensive award program to encourage excellence in art education, including program standards and design standards. The National Art Education Foundation (NAEF) was established as an independent, sister organization to provide grant support for a variety of art education programs. Foundation grants are made to members including students, retired members, state/province associations, and recognized affiliates. NAEA also sponsors a National Art Honor Society and National Junior Art Honor Society for middle and high school students talented in art that provides opportunities for its members to further advance their art training and experience through service to their school and community.
